Chosen and Gifted

Bible Reading: Exodus 29; 30; 31:1-11, 18

"See, I have chosen Bezalel ...and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts--to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship.... Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you" (31:2-6).

Lord, what have you chosen me for? What skills have you given me to use in obedience to your will? Have you chosen me to touch someone's life today with a gift, a song, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, an act of kindness, a work of art...? What have you chosen me to do in my church, in my workplace, in my home...? What purposes have you designed for my life? Why did you put me in this place, with these people, at this time in history? Lord, keep me in tune with the voice of your Spirit within me; help me to know when you are drawing me toward a certain person, place or activity. When I am afraid to step out and follow that stirring in my heart, remind me that you will supply the "skill, ability and knowledge" necessary to accomplish each task that you call me to. Keep me humbly aware that my abilities come from you. Through your Spirit, help me to discern and develop each gift that you have bestowed on me. Keep my eyes open to the opportunities that you provide to use my God-given talents for your glory. Give me courage and passion to fulfill that which you have chosen and gifted me for.
