Camping Out

Bible Reading: Exodus 39:2-43; 40

"In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out - until the day it lifted" (40:36-37).

"Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. At the Lord's command, they encamped, and at the Lord's command they set out" (Numbers 9:22-23).

Sometimes I get stuck in the same spot in my life for so long that it seems I'll never be allowed to move on. Lord, teach me to be content wherever you've set me. Help me to worship you and seek your instruction and guidance right where I am. When I don't see you working in my circumstances, work in my heart. When you're not changing my situation, change me. Change my heart, my focus and my attitude. Mold me into the person you want me to be. Prepare my heart and make me ready for when you do lift the cloud and lead me to take the next step. Give me patience to wait for YOUR command to step out and move on. Whether it is time to follow or time to camp out, build in me a heart of trust that turns each day, with peaceful assurance and interested curiosity, to see the flaming cloud of your faithful presence in my life.
