Promises! Promises!

Bible Reading: Joshua 18; 19; 20; 21

"So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their forefathers, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their forefathers.... Not one of all the Lord's good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled" (21:43-45).

We've all suffered the disappointment of broken promises. But we can be confident that "the Lord is faithful to all his promises" (Psalm 145:13). Though I sometimes wondered if God would keep his word, I can now look back and say, with confidence, that "not one of all the Lord's good promises failed; every one was fulfilled" (21:45). Many of the promises written in the Bible can be applied to the lives of believers today. Revealing the character of God to us, they provide comfort, strength and hope. As I enjoy my cup of coffee this morning, I will reflect on and rejoice in these promises from God!
